My name is Andrew Gianni and I am running for re-election to the Ken-Ton Board of Education. Over the course of my first three-year term, I worked with my fellow board members to create open lines of communication with our school community and build a renewed sense of trust. We completed implementation of the district consolidation plan, oversaw the hiring of a new Superintendent and began a strategic planning process.
We still have challenges ahead. The State Legislature and Education Department have continued to implement new unfunded mandates for our district and new laws and policies that create State oversight for matters that should be locally decided. I will work with our Board to advocate for laws, policies and funding that make sense for our community. While the consolidation plan is complete, there are still side effects of the plan that we must deal with -- perhaps most notably, issues around classroom space. Finally, I am excited to complete the strategic planning process, which will provide our district for a clear vision for the future, allowing us to provide the best services for our students and our community. I believe Ken-Ton is one of New York State’s premier school districts.
I was raised in Ken-Ton and know what a great school district this is. I’m proud to have my own children now attending the District. Please vote for me on May 15th.
