Adams Field
  • A tremendous amount of work took place at the Adams Field Complex during the month of June. Demolition has begun in the Field House, with ADA upgrades being made to the locker rooms. Demolition of the visitor side bleachers, removal of track and natural turf field were also completed during the month. A conduit for new fiber was started from Franklin Middle to the Field House and Press Box. As the end of the month approached the contractors were able to start with the underground drainage beneath the new artificial turf field and the site. All work at the Adams Field Complex is on schedule.
  • At completion, the new complex will include a new artificial turf field, new eight-lane track, sports lighting, addition bleachers, renovations to the Press Box, new scoreboards, ADA renovations to the Athletic Field House, and an addition to the Athletic Storage Building. Information technology upgrades are also being made to the Athletic Complex. All work is scheduled to be completed and turned over to the district in mid-October 2016.
Kenmore East High School
  • Technology Room and Computer Room upgrades began in June 2016. Hazardous material removal started and as with many older buildings, multiple layers of flooring and ceilings have been discovered and were removed. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing demolition were started in preparation for the new gymnasium addition. All work at Kenmore East High School is on schedule.
Kenmore West High School
  • The new guidance suite upgrades began in June 2016.  Hazardous material removal and demolition started and will continue through the early part of July throughout the entire building. Work also began with the removal of auditorium seating. The bus loop and parking lot were also laid out in preparation of work beginning in early July. All work at Kenmore West High School is on schedule.
Lindbergh Elementary School
  • The bus loop was started during the month of June 2016 at Lindbergh Elementary. Once complete, the bus loop will relieve the congestion of traffic from the Irving Terrace entrance of the building. Although six trees had to be removed to allow for the new bus loop to be installed, eight new trees will be planted. All work at Lindbergh Elementary is on schedule. Additional work in the building will continue once the summer 2016 push has been completed.

July 7, 2016 Update

As part of the Ken-Ton School District Phase 2 Capital Project, which was approved by voters in December 2014, new bus loops are currently under construction at Lindbergh Elementary School and Kenmore West High School.

The purpose of the bus loops is to address long-standing traffic and safety concerns at both locations and to accommodate additional buses that will be needed as a result of the Scenario I consolidation transition and lower mileage eligibility limits.

The Ken-Ton School District is committed to preserving as many trees and as much green space as possible. All trees/memorials that must be displaced as a result of the construction of the new bus loops will be moved/replaced. The following diagrams show the current and planned layout at both schools, including the types of individual trees that will be planted:
