Lindbergh Elementary PTA Recognized for Donating Winter Items to Families in Need
On Wednesday, April 11, the Lindbergh Elementary School PTA was presented with an award from EPIC – Every Person Influences Children. The award is to acknowledge and thank the school, the PTA, and the students for collecting winter clothing items such as hats, mittens, and scarves every holiday season for more than 10 years. These items were collected and distributed to close to 1,000 Western New York parents and children that EPIC serves through its various family support programs. Mr. and Mrs. Vogt, former Lindbergh Elementary parents, have played an integral role in this initiative at Lindbergh Elementary for many years.
EPIC started providing programming at Lindbergh Elementary as well as other Ken-Ton schools in 2000, when Dr. Linda Croglia was principal. EPIC conducted its Parents as Advocates workshops, which helps parents develop skills to help their children succeed academically; to build individual relationships with the child and teacher; to create a supportive home environment; and to understand school systems, academic standards, assessments, and college/career readiness expectations. EPIC has also provided several Storytime Family Literacy events for many years. Through this partnership, the PTA began its “Giving Tree” warm weather clothing drive to help the families that EPIC serves.
