September 2016

 Dear Edison Families:

In 2016 Edison Elementary excited to continue our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) initiative.  Positive Behavior Support (PBIS) is a research-based approach supported by the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District to promote positive behaviors and maximize academic achievement.  Our staff will use this proactive approach to teach, reinforce, and reward positive behavior.

Our school's PBIS program is based on four expectations that make up our EDISON MISSION:

Edison Eagles SOAR!

       Safety First

       Outstanding Achievement

       Act Responsibly

       Respect Everyone

Students will learn how to behave according to the Edison Mission in every setting within  the school. They will be encouraged to live the mission at home and throughout the community as well. As the PBIS program progresses, you will continue to receive important information and be given opportunities to get involved. You will be able to ask your child, “What are the rules in your school?” “How do you follow those rules?” “What happens when a staff member sees you following the rules?” We thank you for your time, support and care for our school and community.

                           Student Acknowledgement for Appropriate Behavior:

          Edison Bucks

Edison bucks are given to students demonstrating

respectful, responsible, or safe behaviors. Any staff member at Edison Elementary can hand out our Edison Bucks.

Celebrations will be planned throughout the school year. During the celebrations, students will celebrate being a soaring Eagle. School-wide raffles will be held during the assembly.

          School Store

Each week, students can cash in their Eagle Bucks at the SOAR store for school supplies, books, and prizes or incentives of their choice.
